The Hands Behind the Stitches

A Legacy of Miles and Memories

My journey into sewing didn't start with a manual; it started with my grandmother. Long before I inherited her professionalJanome Memory Craft, she bought me my very first sewing machine. When her Janome finally came home to my studio this past December, it felt less like a tool and more like a homecoming. Today, that machine—with its thousands of miles of thread already under its belt—is the heartbeat of every Charvier design

Curated by Intuition, Not Trends

At Charvier, I believe in inspiration over imitation. When I’m sourcing fabrics, I follow a gut feeling that leans toward the eclectic and the whimsical, purposely steering away from the "cartoony" or mass-produced licensed prints found in big-box stores. I am incredibly particular about what makes the cut. If a fabric doesn't spark a sense of wonder, it doesn't belong in my studio.

Designed for the Michigan Life

Living in a place where we experience all four seasons means a dress can’t just be "cute"—it has to be practical. I design with the Michigan calendar in mind, choosing patterns and textures that look stunning on their own in the summer but layer beautifully with sweaters and leggings for the other three-quarters of the year.

The Magic of the Shirred Fit

My favorite technique is shirring. I love the process, but I love the result even more. Using elastic thread, I create a flexible, comfortable stretch that celebrates every child’s unique shape.

But the real magic? It grows with them. Because children tend to grow taller rather than wider during their toddler years, a Charvier dress that fits a two-year-old as a gown can often be worn as a whimsical tunic at age four or five. I’ve even seen my toddler designs transition into favorite shirts for teenagers. It’s a sustainable, long-lasting approach to childhood style.

One of a Kind. Just Like Her.

When a little girl twirls in a Charvier dress, I want her to feel as special as she truly is. In a world of fast fashion, she is wearing something that no one else in the world owns. It is an eclectic, one-of-a-kind piece designed for a one-of-a-kind spirit.
